30th October 2024-Mumbai: Mumbai police arrests a 20-year old man from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, over the issue of threatening the Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan and the leader of Nationalist Congress Party, Zeeshan Siddique. Siddique is said to have received threats through a threatening message on which he had received some demands to receive an amount of Rs 2 Crore.
As told by police sources, the message was such that unless the ransom was paid, it would be a death sentence for them. This message has specifically targeted Salman Khan. The Worli Police case has been lodged against this unknown sender, charging them with Sections 354(2) and 308(4) of the BNS Act.
Follow-up on the Suspect with Technical Evidence
Technical surveillance coupled with close coordination led to the tracing of the threat source, which finally got them to Noida where the accused was nabbed. An official noted that both local police and cybercrime units collaborated when making the arrest. He is being taken to Mumbai for further questioning and to carry out further investigation of the threats.
Ties with Zeeshan Siddique and the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang
These threats come in the wake of heightened tensions after the murder of Zeeshan Siddique’s father, Baba Siddique, a veteran political figure and former three-time MLA. On 12 October, Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son’s public relations office in Bandra East, allegedly by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The gang reportedly targeted the NCP leader due to his close ties with Salman Khan among other reasons.
With the detention of the Noida suspect, there may be much more light that comes through this incident as far as what is behind such intimidating letters and to what network and individuals it links into as Mumbai Police stays alert at all costs in relation to public figures under its cover who could potentially become easy targets for these people.
